The Grand Theft

Recently during a conversation with my husband, I was reminded of my childhood years in Vietnam and how hard my dad worked to provide for his family. We had eleven people in the house, and most of us were young children. My mom stayed at home to care for us while my dad was out and about working. No matter how hot or how rainy the weather was in the day, my dad would be out working. Amazingly, he single-handedly raised all of us without any help from the government. We were poor, but all of us were raised well. Watching my dad, I learned the true value and dignity of hard work. My sisters and I all grew up learning to be hard working individuals with integrity.

Even though I was not a Christian at the time, I understood the importance of hard work and integrity. This is actually a biblical concept. God expects us to work hard with integrity to earn a living. In fact, He commands us to work in Genesis 2:15; 1 Thessalonians 4:11; Galatians 6:4-5; etc.... For those who refuse to work, they should not eat according to 2 Thessalonians 3:10 “For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.”

Of course there are exceptions with individuals who are handicapped or with severe disabilities that completely prohibit them from being able to do any work. However, if a person who is able to work and refuses to, the Bible describes him as slothful or lazy. God has much to say about these individuals, and is not pleased with them (Proverbs 6:6-8; Matthew 25: 26; Proverbs 21:25-26; etc…).

Due to recent events with Covid, there are wicked officials in the government, who want to collapse America and are doing all they can to destroy the economy. One of the means they are using is unemployment benefit. This has been used to keep people from returning to work. Many companies are struggling because they cannot get people to come to work. This has created a very sick society where many who are perfectly capable of working, would rather stay home and collect a paycheck than to work honestly with their hands to earn a living.

These individuals feel that they are entitled to this type of hand-out from the government and think nothing wrong of it. However, they are willingly allowing the government to steal from them their own conscience, freedom and dignity as a human being. They know they should be working but refuses to. They think they are having it good by not having to work and yet still receiving money. Yet the whole time they are being robbed of all dignity and value as an individual. They are being enslaved.

a lost person might not think twice about receiving a continuous paycheck from the government, because he is lazy and does not want to work honestly with his hands. this ought not to be the case for Christians. This is wicked in God’s eyes because He would expect no less from His children but for them to work hard and show the world the true value of labor with dignity and integrity. Let us who call ourselves Christians work hard and show the world what it means to work honestly with our hands with all of our hearts unto the Lord.
